What is your current role at Adept Solutions?
Business Support Analyst.
Can you tell us more about your career? What made you choose this path?
After graduating with my Masters in Oil and Gas Management from Aberdeen University, I wanted to pursue a career within the sector. I joined Adept Solutions at a very exciting time of business growth as a Business Transformation Graduate.
What is your favourite aspect of your job?
I really enjoy my role as Scrum Master within Adept’s development team, where I am responsible for ensuring that the Scrum process is carried out – a project management framework that we follow to manage our complex product development. It is a great way to stay up to date with how the technical team is progressing with projects and product development. This role also allows me to communicate Adept’s advances in their hydrocarbon accounting software to the oil and gas community.
Who has influenced you the most when it comes to how you approach your work?
Our senior project manager Karl. He is very organised, driven, and he knows how to motivate and energise the whole team.
Can you share with us a recent work-related accomplishment that you are very proud of?
Last year, I presented a series of hydrocarbon accounting videos. The intention behind the series was to help young professionals understand key hydrocarbon accounting concepts. Adept Solutions’ many years of experience in hydrocarbon accounting helped us simplify the material and make it easy to understand. It has been great to see many people watching the videos and finding the content so useful. You can watch the series on our YouTube channel.
What is your go-to productivity trick?
I write down a prioritised list of tasks for the day and stick to it.
What is one thing that you are learning now??
Software as a Service. Adept has recently welcomed a long-time client, IGas Energy, to the list of customers who use Axis as a Service to manage their production data.
Working from home or working from the office?
We are very fortunate at Adept because we can all work from home seamlessly. Over the last 3 months, I have enjoyed my home office, but I do miss working face-to-face as a team.
How do you unwind after a busy week?
At the moment, it is a socially distanced yoga in the park!
