Adept Solutions has continued working with Yokogawa Middle East and Africa on a project to upgrade the integrated control and safety system (ICSS) and associated system at the El Merk field in Algeria, operated by Groupement Berkine (a joint venture between Sonatrach and Oxy). Part of the scope of the project has been to upgrade the production allocation system (PAS) for the El Merk field, originally built and deployed by Adept Solutions in 2013, and based on Adept’s Axis product.

In February 2022, Karl Lebedis visited the El Merk central processing facility (CPF) to lead the site acceptance test (SAT) and commissioning of the upgraded PAS. The field is located more than 1,000 km from Algeria’s Mediterranean coast. It took five flights over three days for Karl to travel to site. The work took place during a planned shutdown of the field and CPF. The SAT was successfully completed with no issues raised by the client. Adept worked closely with colleagues from Yokogawa and other vendors to complete the commissioning and go-live of the ICSS and related systems prior We provided close support to Groupement Berkine operational teams during plant start-up and stabilization.

The successful completion of the SAT and commissioning marks the final milestone in this project. The client has already started using many of the new features available in the latest versions of Axis.
