What is your current role at Adept Solutions?
Software Developer.
Can you tell us more about your career? What made you choose software development?
I’ve always been a keen problem solver with an interest in computing. I graduated with a degree in Physics from University of Aberdeen but I wasn’t interested in pursuing an academic career. I started learning software development in my spare time which eventually led me to joining Adept Solutions.
What is your favourite aspect of your job?
I like that there’s always room for self-improvement and learning. As a software developer, no matter how good you are, you can easily find something to improve.
Who has influenced you the most when it comes to how you approach your work?
Everyone at Adept Solutions. It’s a great team with many different strengths and there’s something to learn from everyone.
Can you share with us a recent work-related accomplishment that you are very proud of?
I’m proud of how much my technical skills have developed over the past few years.
What is your go-to productivity trick?
If I’m struggling to focus I like to set a timer and commit to working for a certain amount of time. Usually when the timer goes off I’m so engrossed in a task that I keep working, but if not then I step away from the screen and have a break, and then try again!
What is one thing that you are learning now?
Snowboarding. I started getting lessons on the dry slope a few months ago and it’s been great fun.
Working from home or working from the office?
I really enjoy a hybrid approach and having the option to choose between the two. It’s nice to get out of the house and see the team but some days I would rather have that extra hour in bed!
How do you unwind after a busy week?
Rock climbing, going to the gym or playing video games.
